Hello Abigail, sorry not to get back to you earlier. I am not a farmer but cutting and harvesting time varies. In the south of England where I live with my wife July is fairly typical, especially in a good year.
As for milling it will go to various sources, but I believe much of it is for beer making in the UK. I understand the barley is better milled for the mashing and malting process but you can research yourself further as I have never worked in that area.
When do you cut it and harvest it? Do they still take barely/grain to a mill? Do you do that?
