How curious and how brilliant! @Baldmichael I was inspired to inquire further…

The sensory input of this v bitter herb, as it coats the posterior third of your tongue, is mediated by cranial nerves IX (‘gloss o pharyngeal’) and X (vagus) - the DIRECT effect on the vagus nerve I found interesting!

A cornucopia pnemonic devices in the wordplay of @Baldmichael will ensure that no one forgets the virtues of Chamomile. (Then remember that weedom is cooler than wikipedia and find some of this herb for yourself! ) How about that apigenin!!?

interesting, i take a supplement at night that has 3 in 1; apigenin threonine, magnesium. it says to take 3, but i only do 1 or else i'd sleep all day! Best part of waking up is using the bathroom & quickly returning to sleep! : )

I’m drinking rooibos tea to help me sleep. Have you researched that ?

Baldmichael's avatar

No I haven't. I am sure there are other things like rooibos that help. It is conceivable that the hot water might itself be part of the reason.

Peter rabbit’s mother put him to bed with chamomile tea when he wasn’t feeling very well. ☺️

That is very interesting and yes, I see what you mean. It has been a very long time since I read Beatrix Potter, but clearly like so many books it contains wise sayings.

Food for thought instead.

Bitter in relation to one's character is an insult enough to be offended when someone said when I liked a particular beer, that they should have guessed that I was a bitter girl.

Made me nervous to order another the same. :)
