Cold and dry is always fine as long as there isn't too much wind. It's the cold and damp that is so horrible and we can have a fair bit of that in the UK.
Nevertheless I love the changing seasons it keeps life interesting. I once met a lady at a dinner, she was originally from Russia. The area she was from had very short spring and autumn and the summers could be exceedingly hot and the winters exceedingly cold. I think she much preferred it over here married to her English husband.
Canada here too - Nova Scotia - just getting into the time when we fire up the wood stove and get the Snow Goose parka/mobile sleeping bag out for walking the dog lol :-)

Here in lake country Canada (southern Ontario), the leaves are all gone.
We have, intemittently, had 2" of snow, but raining currently.
I hate the rain, except in spring and early summer, when truly required.
I welcome our 4 seasons, and don't mind -20C, as long as the sun is shining.
When the sun shines in February, it matters not what the temperature is...
If you can't handle it, go inside...

I do enjoy winter and snow, but that doesn't last past January.
We regularly get 100" snow annually.
Love it, love driving in it with my 4×4, but then I'm ready for spring.

I've been to NS, several times.
Coastal as well as St. Andrews .
Gorgeous province, and have never gotten my head around tides in Bay of Fundy.
Truly, one of the world wonders!
