Halloween and mask-ists – a light bite

Tonight is All Hallows Eve or Halloween when some will be out and about in scary masks trying to frighten people.
It happens on one day once a year of course when the year is waning and the days getting shorter and nights longer.
However in 2020 those in authority thought it would be a good wheeze to try and do it more often and try it in the summer. It was a blazing hot day in June that year when I first observed in in Brighton outside the hospital.
Anyway, since then we have had masks galore from those I call mask-ists who have this funny idea that a cloth mask of some description will stop them getting the ‘flu, a.k.a. COVID 19.
Today I thought I would offer a light bite, some humour to drive the blues away as an antidote to fear and confusion. I have some memes to present, but firstly some interesting website observations.

Apparently
Democrats nearly all entered the chamber wearing either bandannas or masks — of many colors.
And
House Rules Committee Chairman Jim McGovern (D-Mass.) lashed into his Republican colleagues who chose not to cover up after Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) spoke. Jordan, who coughed repeatedly while awaiting his turn to speak, did not wear a mask while seated on the floor, or at the lectern.
And
Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) arrived on the House floor without masks, as did many GOP peers.
“Nice mask!” a colleague told Scalise.
“Thanks! I wear it for Halloween, too!” the second-ranking Republican said, laughing uproariously.
Nice to know someone has a sense of humour even if Democrats don’t.
This is Jim McGovern. He is Roman Catholic. It looks like he has always been in public administration and politics.

He’s on the list. All 219 of the Democrats and 97 of 211 Republicans. So 100% cases of stupidity to the Democrats and 46% to the Republicans.
These people are helping run the country, but only fewer than 25% have been wise. Oh dear.
So if you thought some Republicans were dim, spare a thought for all the Democrats. I am sure there must be a large enough mental care home to take them in somewhere.
Gallup poll: Democrats, women more likely to wear masks

Democrats, women and people with college educations are more likely to wear masks in public to help prevent the spread of coronavirus, according to a new poll released Monday.
The Gallup survey found mask-wearing remains a political issue, with 94 percent of Democrats stating that they “always” or “very often” wear masks when outside their homes, compared to 46 percent of Republicans who said the same.
Meanwhile, 36 percent of Republicans said they “rarely” or “never” wear a mask when going out, a position shared by only 2 percent of Democrats.

The poll also found divisions on mask-wearing between men and women. Eighty-one percent of women surveyed said they wear masks “always” or “very often” outside the home, compared to 63 percent of men and 72 percent of U.S. adults overall. Twenty-four percent of men surveyed said they “rarely” or “never” wear masks outside their homes, compared to 11 percent of women.
Eighty-five percent of people surveyed who had college educations said they wear masks “always” or “very often,” compared to 65 percent of those without college degrees.
Respondents between the ages of 35 and 54 were less likely to say they wear masks outside the home “always” or “very often” when compared to those between the ages of 18 and 34 and those aged 55 and older.
So it can be generally observed that stupidity affects Democrats very severely, and the college educated and women severely.
I shudder to think what happens if one is all three…..1
Top Democrats introduce resolution calling for mask mandate, testing program in Senate

Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Sen. Amy Klobuchar (Minn.), the top Democrat on the Rules Committee, are pushing for the chamber to require masks and establish a formal testing program amid a spike in new cases.

“Senate Republicans must join us here in reality and acknowledge that through their inaction, they are creating a truly dangerous situation,” Schumer said in a statement.
Indeed so. They were setting a precedent for critical thinking and that would never do.
Klobuchar added that the resolution includes “common sense measures our government must have in place to protect the Senate community, including our staff, and to fully function during this pandemic.”
‘As our brains aren’t functioning at the moment’ she is alleged to have added.
This is Charles Schumer. He is Jewish and trained as a lawyer, but has been a full time politician.
