My wife and I went to a bed and breakfast in south Wales a couple of years ago. I saw this toast rack and was inspired to link the letters to the Garden of Eden.
Why you may ask? Well. It’s like this.
There are two ‘T’s like two trees, the Tree of Life and the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.
The first ‘T’ is adjacent to the ‘O’ which represents love and the circle of life.
The last ‘T’ is adjacent to the ‘S’ which represents the serpent, the Devil.
The ‘A’ in the middle represents Adam and Eve. Bear in mind Eve came out of Adam but also that the ‘A’ could be viewed as a man and woman leaning together heads touching and holding hands.
Adam and Eve had a choice to go for the Tree of Life or Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.
They chose the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil believing the serpent’s lie that they would not die.
The last three letters of ‘toast are ‘ast’, which are letters in the word ‘Satan’, another name for the serpent and the Devil.
They could have chosen the Tree of life and trusting the Lord God’s words.
The first three letters of ‘toast are ‘toa’, which are letters in the word ‘Tao’, a word in Chinese for ‘way’, as in Jesus as ‘The way’.
Adam and Eve chose the wrong way and their relationship with the Lord God was done for, became as they say toast! They got burnt and suffered as a consequence.
But toast can mean raising a glass of wine as a token of goodwill.
Jesus came and offered up His blood as symbolised in His sacrifice on the cross. He offered up a toast, a token of goodwill towards men and became ‘toast’ for us, taking the blame.
And for those who follow Christ, the sharing of the wine cup is a reminder of that.
So toast and the Garden of Eden are related.
P.S. Jesus is also the bread of life so as bread he was toasted. Here are two posts which might interest those who haven’t seen.
