Why does the earth swallow the river from the serpent - Revelation 12 v.16?
By Baldmichael Theresoluteprotector’sson
Apart from preventing the serpent destroying the woman that is. We have recorded in verses 15 and 16 this:
“Then from the mouth of the serpent spewed water like a river to overtake the woman and sweep her away in the torrent. But the earth helped the woman and opened its mouth to swallow up the river that had poured from the dragon’s mouth.”
Now at the start of chapter 12 the woman in question is in heaven. In fact the words are “And a great sign appeared in heaven…”
The reference is to the constellation of Virgo and thus the link to Jesus Christ, born of a virgin, the male child of Revelation 16 v.5.
I found this very helpful link.

It says the following just over half way down the article:
Revelation 12:15-16 Commentary: The Earth helps the Woman.
Here John beholds a new portrait in the night sky. The woman, now portrayed as Andromeda, is once again threatened by the devil, now pictured as the dragon Cetus. John sees the river Eridanus pouring from the mouth of Cetus threatening to drown nearby Andromeda. But the river Eridanus, winding to the south, appears to be swallowed by the earth’s horizon.
Note the reference to Andromeda which I mentioned in my last post on Armageddon.
As regard Eridanus Wikipedia has some information.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eridanus_(constellation)
The link indicates that it was first conflated with the Nile in Egypt, but also has been identified with the Po River in northern Italy which flows eastwards into the Adriatic.
This river carries a great deal of silt and is extending the swampy delta at its bottom end. Now this makes sense as Po reminds me of potty, i.e. chamber pot and I am sure you know what that is used for.
The Britannica encyclopaedia says
During the Paleolithic and Neolithic periods the lower valley of the Po was occupied by people who built houses on piles along the swampy banks.
See
https://www.britannica.com/place/Po-River
Piles will of course occur near the bottom so again this makes sense.
As an aside, the Wikipedia entry for the Po River says
Always prone to fog, the valley is subject to heavy smog due to industrial atmospheric emissions, especially from Turin.
See
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Po_(river)
This is why we saw the so-called COVID 19 cases in northern Italy as industrial pollution was the same problem as in Wuhan where it all allegedly started.
And industrial pollution was as much as anything the true cause of respiratory disease.
There have been other significant issues with the Po where the sewage of Milan discharged directly into the Po.
A po can be short for a pooh, so we can say that it can stink there.
As regards Eridanus and its association I have noted the following anagrams:
- re a Indus
A significant river from the Himalayas.
- due rains
Well, rivers occur principally due to rain.
- ire Sudan
Flooding causes problems in that country.
- use drain
Rivers drain a valley
- sad urine
I thought when one goes ‘Whee!’ one is happy?
- I dun arse
Rivers tend to end at a brown bottom
- dire anus
Sometimes drastically.
- I red anus
Leaving one sore
- UN arse id
The United Nations are like this. NB the nations are likened to many waters in the Bible. See Revelation 17 v.15.
In fact it is the prostitute that sits there, although in the context perhaps we should say, shits there!
- nursed AI
Which is very interesting under the circumstances.
In any event we can certainly say that the river that Cetus spews forth is rather unpleasant.
Let us go back to the earth swallowing the river. In the Greek, the word ‘swallow up’ is καταπίνω, katepien from kata and pino.
See
https://biblehub.com/interlinear/revelation/12-16.htm
Pino means to drink down or gulp and phonetically the original word is ‘kat-ap-ee’-no’. This sounds like ‘Cat pee not’, so the reverse of urinating which is drinking.
Katepien also includes the single word anagrams ‘intake’ and ‘eaten’, reinforcing the sense of consuming.
Anyway, I have mentioned Eridanus was first conflated with the Nile in Egypt, the longest river on earth.
And we know the river is swallowed up or ‘eaten’ by the earth.
So we can answer the question ‘Why does the earth swallow the river from the serpent?’ thus:
To destroy or ‘a Nile ate it’!!!

Baldmichael Theresoluteprotector’sson. When not posting pages or paging posties, trying to be a good husband, and getting over a long term health issue, I am putting the world to rights. I have nothing better to do, so why not? But of course that includes dancing, being funny (in more than one sense), poking fun at life, poking fun at myself, deflating the pompous, reflating the sad. Seeking to heal the whole of the soul (and body where possible). In short making life as good as it possibly can be for others as well as myself. You can’t say fairer than that. But if you can, please say. People need to know.

Love the cosmic tapestry you’ve stitched together—the Book of Revelation meandering through constellations, river lore, all delightfully stirred with some cunning lingus-tic flair. Bravo 👏
I shall, however, be steering well clear of the Po ohey River. Piles of misfortune await any who dare navigate its fragrant current—eau de Po oh 💩💨💦🫢
