Creation and evolution, the meanings explored – a light bite
By Baldmichael Theresoluteprotector’sson
I am not trying here to unravel what the bible says about how the universe was made or how those who espouse evolutionary theory try and explain it.
I just want today to look briefly at the actual meanings and their root as far as possible. This may seem basic but it is important to understand such things before we can look at such things as the creation story and evolutionary theory.
Creation
This is defined here.
In essence it comes from create and -ion, where -ion is an action or process.
And create means ‘To bring into existence’.
Interestingly the first three letters are those of creed, a belief.
This makes sense as if one is to create something one must believe that it is possible to do it.
Evolution
This is defined here.
Etymology
Borrowed from Latin ēvolūtiō, ēvolūtiōnis (“the act of unrolling, unfolding or opening (of a book)”), from ēvolūtus, perfect passive participle of ēvolvō (“unroll, unfold”), from ex + volvō (“roll”).
I see the word ‘volvo’ which is where the car name came from.
The word evolution includes the meaning ‘change’ or ‘process of development.’
Creation anagrams
We can glean some useful pointers from these into the meaning of the word. For example, a full one word anagram is ‘reaction’.
Then there are these:
– I enactor
Implying that someone is required to enable creation.
– Nicer Tao
Implying a better way.
– Notice Ra
Possibly implying that the sun is important in creation.
Evolution anagrams
We can also glean some useful pointers from these into the meaning of the word. There are no full one word anagrams but there are these two single longest words:
– Involute
A particular type of curve that is dependent on another shape or curve. See
– Volution
1: a rolling or revolving motion
2: a spiral turn : TWIST, CONVOLUTION
3: a whorl of a spiral shell : VOLUTE
See
Then there are these phrases:
– I novel out
As a story unfolds.
– Unveil too
‘Too’ meaning also thus revealing the plot of a story.
– into ovule
A seed from which something grows, changing as it does.
In seed plants, the ovule is the structure that gives rise to and contains the female reproductive cells. See
Summary and final thoughts
Creation implies making something and requires an idea which can be considered as a seed of thought from which the idea will grow.
It does require an actor, someone who will enact it, to carry it out.
Evolution implies movement, the rolling out of a story, whether an actual written book or if you will the book of life.
They are not at odds with each other but complimentary. Nevertheless evolution is not in itself the creative act, merely a process of change which varies as any story can.
And in life everything is ultimately a story, created and changing or, if you wish, evolving.
But a story does require an author and finding out who that author is and what they are like is part of the fun of life.
As to the creation story and evolutionary theory that will have to be another article.

Ah yes. "Creation implies making something and requires an idea which can be considered as a seed of thought from which the idea will grow." Nice exposition. The Logos. I had, on finally reaching the gospel accounts (in this of my full Bible reading begun April '23), moved to reading each verse in 3 variants: 1611 KJV, 1649 Diodati, 1911 Louis Segond--finding a depth of understanding coming to me, because coming through three languages. As I began the Gospel of John, I moved to reading also ΚΑΤΑ ΙΩΑΝΝΗΝ, and from it gain even more depth. Thus, your words strike me powerfully. It was your response to my thyroid comment which led me here, though I have been aware of your "name" for a few years.
Well done Michael!
