The story of Samson has always been one of my favorites when I was a boy. I always thought how cool would it be to be that strong. Growing older I realized there was more to the story than just being strong.
I was in school in the sixties and seventies and long hair was popular with boys and I was one of those boys. After I graduated college I knew I had to get a business haircut in order to get a job.
After I retired I let it grow back very long. I was blessed to have a great head of hair and still have one even though I am in my late sixties. I always wanted to be a drummer in a rock band. That never happened but at least I got to get my hair back.
We will never be as strong as Samson, but we can stand strong for the Lord in our lives, actions and testimony to bring others to Christ. That may be even more important than being able to kill a lion with your bare hands.
Great article as always and now I think I know where you got your Substack name ???
Very interesting, thanks John. And you are right, in Christ we are sons and heirs so we have that strength as long as we trust in Christ.
In fact as I think of it, as there are lots of heirs or 'hairs' in Christ, there in strength in us as a group of believers!
As to my name, well there's a bit more to than that. When I was looking at setting up my WordPress site, the Holy Spirit was prompting me not to use my real first name (which is uncommon) and so I came up with a lateral thought up name based on the possible meaning of my first name. It so happens that I am also bald on top so it seemed suitably silly for this mad Covid time.
You are very kind, but I just like playing with the sounds of words and seeing what I come up with. It is though the key to so much in scripture and why it is written in the New Testament

So true and an important point to be made and remembered.
Thanks for your reply and for the “inside baseball”information regarding your Substack name.
As Paul Harvey used to say.
Now you know the rest of the story.
great find: girl-fiend... how about girl-foe?
You are some clever man.
