For those who are not aware, Live Aid
was a two-venue benefit concert and music-based fundraising initiative held on Saturday, 13 July 1985.

As it says, the event was organised
to raise further funds for relief of the 1983–1985 famine in Ethiopia, a movement that started with the release of the successful charity single "Do They Know It's Christmas?" in December 1984.
The refrain “Feed the world” may stick in many people’s memory. Anyway, I shall extract the salient paragraphs from The Observer article and comment as necessary. Following text in italics from the article unless otherwise stated.
It says
“He wants to give the world a great big hug, and I want to punch its lights out.” So says Bob Geldof about Bono.
I knew little about Geldof – beyond having joined the nation in watching the Live Aid concertin (sic) 1985 and giving “my fucking money”
Bob is known for his strong language about things he cares about. As to what happened to the ‘fucking money’, which I gather amounted to £127 million, I haven’t tried to check but others may know.
In any event it is always difficult to assess when you give money to others whether they do use it wisely.
It did raise awareness and other support from western nations, but the event was only about the short term need, not the long term issues facing the region.
It was torn by civil war and one of the groups was the TPLF, the Tigray People's Liberation Front.
And that was the group that the WHO director-general, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, was part of. I gather The Who did play Live Aid, but not the WHO!
The WHO does benefit from aid though from well-known generous philanthropists like the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. I am not aware they sing to raise money, although without the ‘g’ of sing that is probably correct.
The Live Aid concert inspired Bono and his wife to work with an aid agency in Ethiopia at the end of 1985, without fanfare. He and Geldof began what Bono calls the journey from charity to justice, understanding that only governments can truly address the iniquities of the relationship between the different countries of Africa and the global north.
Although governments don’t do this just for charity, self-interest is always there.
For Bono, these goals superseded ideology. In 2001, he appealed to the “enemy”, US president George W Bush, in what Bush’s chief of staff, Joshua Bolten, described to me as the “greatest lobbying exercise” he has ever seen. Bush was widely despised, but Bono, secure in his religious belief, appealed not only to Bush’s conscience but to some of the most conservative figures in the Senate.
George Bush and conscience are not something I would put together, especially after the Iraq war, but I don’t suppose Bono understood quite who he was dealing with at the time.
Still, had he checked the anagrams of ‘George Bush’ he could have been warned by ‘huger BS ego’.
He persuaded them that aid to Africa was not just a religious imperative, but in the US’s deepest interests. One result was Pepfar, which over the past 20 years has seen different administrations put more than $100bn into providing HIV medicine across the continent.
And $100 billion into the coffers of big pharma. For what exactly, a disease that is caused by the drugs that big pharma produces. They won’t tell you that of course, they blame it on a virus that only the select few can see.
By the way, Pepfar, is the ‘Presidents Emergency Plan For Aids Relief’ but ‘I prefer is cartels fiends money plan greed’.
That’s an anagram by the way.
As Bush told me, in a rare interview clearly aimed at the present incumbent of the White House: “About 27 million people now live who would have died. And the fundamental question for Americans was whether that was in our national interest. I decided it was. It would not have happened without Bono.”
27 million now live sounds very like the ’20 million saved by vaccines’ deceit. But to be fair perhaps they do, only now they are poisoned by toxic medications instead of dying from starvation.
This allows for more pharma profit.
Bono’s anger is intense as he describes how Trump and Musk are laying waste to that legacy, and USAID. “A hammer has come down from hell, and it is going to cause hell,” he said. “Elon Musk can treat USAID like a company that he’s just bought, where his tactics are always to just fire everybody, dismiss everybody, and rehire the absolutely necessary. There are millions of people who are going to lose their lives because of this act of vandalism.” His lobbying band are still fighting to save what they can from the ruins – including the vaccination campaigns that have almost wiped out polio.
So says naïve Bono, who wants to save vaccination campaigns, a.k.a. poison the gullible for pharma profit.
None of this is ancient history. Listen to Geldof on the same subject and he is vituperative.

The cretin talks about “no time for the anti-vaxxer creeps and the anti-science people and the anti-thinking people” and “this miraculous product”. He says he “would have no wish to harm another person ever”. That didn’t age well did it Bob?
By the way, this “miraculous product” had not yet been rolled out in 2020 and it makes me wonder if Bob was paid for such nonsense. After all the phrase anagrams to
- occult’s paid rumour
And in the end it has proved to be an
- atrocious crud lump
Just sayin’.
As Compo from Last of the Summer wine might say, ‘Bog off Bob’. In fact as his full name is ‘Robert Frederick Zenon Geldof’ we can get this anagram

You once sang “It’s a rat trap, Judy, and we’ve been caught”. Well, you joined the establishment and it has you well and truly caught, hasn’t it Bob?
As to Bono, he has an anti-poverty charity called ONE which has created a new animated series called Pandemica to stress the importance of vaccines to big pharma, sorry, the poor people of the world who aren’t poisoned enough already by polluted air and water.

As to the article it talks about over 4,000 variants of COVID-19. This is in March 2021 and the first time I have heard about it being so many. What a load of bollox.
It says the animation was done by Titmouse. A load of Titmouses more like. I see several sublinks are now broken with pages missing. What a surprise.
Well Bono, I have a bono (sic) to pick with you. Bono may remind you of the French ‘bon’ meaning ‘good’ but a fat lot of good you have done by promoting the Devil’s toxic shots.

Never liked Old Bob - and boy he looks 30 older than me! Well he would, all that messing with the parasites doesn't seem to help them stay like Dorian Gray. I remember the demands - that just confirmed my opinion. As for dopey Boneo - another creep.
Can't quite see old Tedros singing "Rocking all over the World" although he's doing his best to be part of the taking over the world.
Still love the anagrams! Been a bit busy with the smallholding, so lots to catch up with when I can! Still trying to enjoy "normal" life for as long as we can.
