I did not wear a mask, I told anyone who asked that I was exempt. If people asked why I was exempt I told them that they were not really allowed to ask me that but that I was willing to explain anyway, I had a condition called NAFI, that was accepted. People were kind about my condition. Bless them. I know you can guess what it stands for - Not A F***ing Idiot. My doctors surgery did not believe in NAFI however and they made me wait outside in the cold rain and then go in the back door. So the last time I went in with a balaclava, mask on top, wrap around cycling glasses and marigold rubber gloves on which I used their hand gel three times. The nurse asked if the marigolds were rubber, I said they were and she said she had better open the doors for me in case anyone had a latex allergy. Fun times!
It’s funny how I was directed earlier today by a comment on another substack to read Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s essay on stupidity, and now here I am confronted with the same topic. Don’t you feel sometimes that we are swimming in a sea of stupidity? Prayer is our lifeboat.
Interesting. Somethings come in threes, so maybe there will be another stupid article!
That Bonhoeffer link was very useful, thank you. And here is CS Lewis apparently which I had read a few days ago.
"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience."
Why so much fuss about these innocent masks? It’s yet another component of ritual clothing, of equal standing with ties and bow ties, socks, wigs, lipstick, woman’s handbags, moustache, wedding rings and earrings, tattoos, nail polish, watches, smartphones and so many more…

Good catch on finding the word nazi in immunization, revealing a deeper truth about it.
